Following the birth of your newborn, our services also extend to cover postpartum care. This will include checkups and an individualized personal care schedule for both mother and child with the first visit taking place within 48 hours of the birth.
In-home support and instruction for mothers who have chosen to breastfeed are also included. Our caregivers are fully trained and licensed to perform the two newborn screenings required by the state of Texas. They can also provide information and referral to pediatricians in the area.
What Our Postpartum Care Includes
Our postpartum care includes emotional support through the time of your six-week checkup, and we will assist you in receiving further services should they be needed beyond that time.
Some new mothers, particularly first-time mothers, can experience postpartum depression following the birth of their child. It is always a good idea to have support available should this condition occur.
Your care team will help you to work through any emotional issues you may experience and refer you to other sources of support and help if needed. You will also have access to lifestyle and nutrition counseling, information and assistance with the various types of birth control options (including non-hormonal options), and pap smears.
Postpartum care will continue with the same midwife team you had during your prenatal care and the birth of your child. We have found that this continuity and familiarity provides comfort and stability to the mother and the family as a whole. Postpartum services include family planning counseling with information and referral to other health care services and providers as needed.
Committed to you and your Babies Health
All of our postpartum services are focused on the complete health and well-being of both mother and child. Your care does not end once you have given birth.
Your caregiver will be at your service and on call 24/7 throughout your entire time with Family Birth Services. Your care will include in-home visits (if this is your preference). This is intended to make things easier for mother and baby during the first weeks following delivery.
If there is a concern or a need, we will do our best to handle everything and assist the mother and family in any way possible. Postpartum care is as important to the birth experience as any other aspect, and Family Birth Services will be there every step of the way to ensure a positive and memorable experience for everyone.
